I missed this last week, but the Shooting Federation of Canada announced the members of Canada's Pan-Am Games shooting team on September 2.
Here's who made the cut:
Pistol Team
Metodi Igorov
Dorothy Ludwig
Sylvain Ouellette
Violetta Szyszkowski
Lea Wachowich
Rifle Team
Sharon Bowes
Michel Dion
Monica Fyfe
Cindy Hamulas
Cory Niefer
Johan Sauer
Greg Sych
Skeet Team
Jason Caswell
Richard McBride
Trap Team
Lindsay Boddez
Susan Nattrass
Drew Shaw
Paul Shaw
I was fortunate to be able to train alongside both Sharon Bowes and Greg Sych when I lived in southern Ontario and they're both top notch. I know Monica from shooting in Winnipeg, although now she's living the high life down south on the Jacksonville State University Rifle Team.
The XVI Pan-American Games are scheduled for October 14-30 in Guadalajara, Mexico. Canada has a pretty good track record in shooting at the Pan-Am Games over the years. It's also our last chance to earn quota spots for the 2012 London Olympic Games.
Go Canada go!
